I watched it for the first time this year at age 62, and rewatched it two more times since. In general I love the writing and the characters. My personal fave is Spike.

I hated:
the way Buffy treated Spike most of the time (and often inconsistently), Dawn the whiner, Xander losing his eye and his relationship, Anya dying, the rape scene with Spike, Tara dying, etc. hated warren.

I loved season 6 mostly, hated the girls on season 7, loved many of the villains, loved that so many of the good guys and bad guys had good and bad in them, so that there wasn’t all black and white. loved Clem.

Spike was treated quite badly and hypocritically by many of the scooby gang. Angel, who was a true psychopath without his soul, always seemed to be mostly given a pass for his bad behavior, Anya given a pass, Willow given a pass, but Spike was reviled even though he made efforts that were truly herculean even “without a soul”. Then in the end he saved the world. Hahaha. And several seasons later saved the wretched Angel series. Hahaha. Buffy didn’t deserve him, truly.
